Paediatric Emergencies During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The state of alarm decreed by the Spanish Government, due to the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, has demanded the lockdown of children and has conditioned a new organization of the Emergency Departments (ED). A pre-triage station and 2 independent circuits were established: suspected COVID-19 and not suspected COVID-19. The ED visits decreased 84,5% from pre-alarm with no increase in the level of urgencies. During the alarm state, 40.97% of the children were classified as suspected COVID-19. Debido al confinamiento por la COVID-19, las familias españolas tuvieron que adaptarse a nuevas situaciones y rutinas. El objetivo de esta investigación ha sido conocer qué variables explicaban el ajuste psicológico de cuidadores familiares de adolescentes ante la COVID-19, mediante un estudio longitudinal (evaluando primero a las 2-3 semanas del inicio del estado de alarma y después tras 8 semanas de su instauración en España). Background Odontology practice has been severely compromised by the pandemic caused by COVID-19 and Spain is one of the countries with higher incidence. Our aim with this study is to find out the number of cases and type of odonto-stomatological emergencies (OSE) treated in four dental clinics of the Madrid capital area and region (CAM) in the period covered between March 17th and 4th of May.
